Stem Cell Therapy

Stemcell therapy is a modern treatment used to replace dead and diseased cells within the body. Stem cells are used in many conditions of different organs of the body ranging from the heart, skin, bones, soft tissue, major organs and joints.

A stem cell is a type of cell not specialized to perform a specific role. Instead, it has the unique ability to develop into one of many different types of cell.

Stem cell therapy uses stem cells to replace dead and diseased cells within the body.

The human body contains over 200 different types of cells. Usually, each type has certain characteristics that allow it to perform a specific role.

Cells with similar roles group together to form tissues, which then organize to form the body’s organs. For example, the heart is a collection of muscle tissues.

Once harvested, the stem cells are isolated in a specialised laboratory. After manipulating the cells to develop into specific types, they are injected in the tissue which needs treatment for wear and tear or damage due to any reason. The stem cells may also be injected into the blood.

Stem cell therapy for joints is an innovative and non-surgical procedure using amniotic stem cells for medical conditions affecting these areas:

How it works

  • Small amounts of fat and tissue are siphoned off from around the stomach.
  • Mesenchymal cells, a type of stem cells, are extracted and grown in a laboratory for a few weeks.
  • The re-grown stem cells are then injected into the knee.
  • They grow into new cartilage, slowing and even stopping cartilage tissue from being destroyed.
  • The cells migrate to the joint lining, where they help hald inflammation and gradual erosiono of the joint.
